While games with boards, and cards, and dice, and pieces, and batteries are fine… we’re all for games that need few, or no objects, but lots of creativity!
Enter the very fun game: What Is This thing?
Grab a simple household or outdoor item like a wooden dowel, a ruler, a stick or even a paper towel tube. The object isn’t important. But what the object becomes is what makes this game fun!
Once you have your object, take turns passing it around. Each person has to pretend that the “thing” is another object.
For example, a paper towel roll could be:
A trumpet
A magnifying glass
A pogo stick
A conductor’s baton
A fire hose
Get the idea? So fun! The other players, of course, have to guess what the prop-user is pretending to use it as. You can give each player a time limit, if needed!
And while we still do love those games with the pieces and the dice and the cards and the batteries… we really love how this open-ended game gets the imagination going! It’s an easy-to-set-up game, that can last as short or as long as you want, and fires up those creativity neurons!
It’s so fun to see what your imagination can create!
